Basement remodeling project in a home

Down a level

Basement Finishing & Remodeling in Walnut Grove

Moisture checked at the slab, then framing, wiring, drywall and paint built one layer at a time, each one looked over by the same team before the next goes on.

Built From the Slab Up

A finished basement is a stack of layers, and each one hides the one under it. The slab and foundation walls come first: we look for stains, chalky mineral deposits and musty air, and any water problem goes into the scope ahead of framing.

Then come framing and insulation, wiring and any drain lines, the inspection, drywall, trim and paint. Because one team builds every layer, nothing gets sealed in that nobody looked at. When the job wraps up, our work down there carries a 1-year warranty.

Stage by Stage Downstairs

  1. Moisture and Measurements

We read the slab and walls for water, measure ceiling heights and locate the drain, furnace and water heater. The layout is then drawn around what we actually find down there.

  2. Frame, Rough In, Inspect

Framing, soffits, wiring and any new drain lines are installed and inspected. We look them over ourselves too, since insulation and drywall are about to bury them for good.

  3. Close In, Then Walk It

Drywall, trim, doors and paint turn the framed space into rooms. We finish by walking the level with you and fixing whatever catches your eye.

Basement Questions We Get

Can a basement bedroom be legal?

Usually, if the room meets code: an escape opening a person can climb out of, typically an egress window, plus adequate ceiling height and smoke alarms. Your county or city building department sets the figures, and the layout is planned around them from the start.

Our basement got wet once. Can it still be finished?

Often, yes, once the cause is dealt with. We trace where the water got in, write the fix into the scope ahead of any framing and only then build, since finished walls over a damp foundation do not last.

A Whole Floor Going Unused?

Describe what is down there today, any water it has seen and the room you wish you had. We can go over where rooms would fit, how much headroom you have and what gets built first.
