Staying put, gaining space

Home Additions in Walnut Grove

Add a bedroom, a primary suite or a few feet of kitchen without moving, with the foundation, framing, tie-in and interior all built by one team.

Where the New Room Meets the Old

An addition is a string of projects: footings, a frame, a weather-tight shell, the joint with your house and the rooms inside. The hardest is the joint, where new floors, walls and exterior have to meet what is already there without a step, a crack or a mismatched line.

When one team builds both sides of that joint, there is nobody to blame but us if it does not line up, which is exactly why it gets checked before anything is covered.

From Footings to Furniture

  1. Confirm the Lot

Setbacks and zoning decide where an addition can sit and how big it can be, and we pin them down before sketching a single wall.

  2. Close In the Shell

Foundation, framing and sheathing go up and the shell is closed in, with each required inspection passed and our own check done before work moves on.

  3. Open, Connect, Finish

Near the end, the wall into the house comes open and the interior is finished. We walk the new space with you before closing out the job.

Addition Questions

Will the new room match the rest of the house?

That is the goal from the first measurement. Floor heights are set to meet the existing rooms, exterior materials and trim are chosen to blend, and paint ties the inside together. Some older materials are hard to match exactly, and we tell you up front where that applies.

Does an addition need a permit?

Yes, in nearly every case, with inspections at several points such as footings, framing and the rough-ins. We let you know which approvals apply to your project, and each stage is built to pass before the next one covers it.

Short on Space but Happy Where You Are?

Say what you would use the new room for and what the yard looks like on each side of the house. We will go over what the lot allows, how the build would be staged and where most of the money goes.
